Many of the city's landscaped intersections and streets require daily
care. All the city parks and many city buildings are enhanced with
highlight landscaping. This division is also responsible for mowing
of all city parks. Approximately 300 acres of park and ballfield grass

community centers. Hattiesburg has five community centers and one
theater. The Saenger Theatre has been completely renovated to its
original 1929 splendor. Jackie Dole, C.E. Roy, Sigler Center and the
Hattiesburg Recreation Center find themselves host to approximately
250,000 people each year. The N.R. Burger Building is also home to
a museum honoring those citizens of Hattiesburg who have served their
country and community with honor in the Military. Tour
area community centers and find out all they have to offer.
Hurricane
Katrina Recovery Efforts
The Recreation Maintenance Division has, like all City
departments, been extremely busy during the weeks following
Hurricane Katrina. Katrina hit just as our Fall Leagues for
softball, football, baseball, soccer and flag football were about to
start. Many of our facilities suffered severe damage to
structures such as fences, lights, dugouts and buildings.
Thanks to the hard work of our staff and volunteers, we were able to
get most all leagues and facilities back on-line for Fall Season
play.
